Represented in the world's greatest museums, from the National Gallery in London to the Metropolitan Museum in New York, the Italian painter Francesco Zuccarelli (1702 - 1788) left his mark on 18th-century European art history through his central and strategic role in landscape painting.

Francesco Zuccarelli, born in 1702, was a celebrated Rococo painter known for his pastoral scenes and ethereal landscapes. As a founding member of the Royal Academy in London, his artistic contributions elevated England's cultural landscape. Zuccarelli's journeys to England in 1750, 1762, and 1771 captivated audiences and solidified his reputation. His works, characterized by delicate palettes and meticulous detail, transport viewers to idyllic realms of tranquility. Today, Zuccarelli's masterpieces adorn esteemed collections worldwide, inviting collectors to partake in his timeless vision.

Represented in the world's leading auction houses, the oldest auction recorded is for the artwork "A Traveller and Peasants at a Well" presented in 1986 at Sotheby's and the most recent is for the artwork "Travellers and other figures in a river landscape", presented in 2024, for an average rotation of $37,000.00.

“An English Countryside” sums up the totality of his talent.
The soft colors and suggestive movements on the canvas of this exceptional painting all testify to his sensitivity, and his emphasis on lyricism rather than realism, contrasting and reinventing the trends of his time.

Condition Report:
The overall condition of the painting is good, with a slight yellowing of the varnish over time and a small, invisible touch-up at the bottom. A small paint peel is visible on the lower right-hand side of the canvas, a new frame has been added.
